First Intuition are carbon neutral!

First Intuition is proud to announce a major step forward in our sustainability journey. We’re now officially a carbon neutral organisation. In this blog, we share what this means for us and the next steps in our commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

Achieving carbon neutrality is just the start of our journey to reduce our environmental impact. Through carbon offsetting and daily action, we’re working towards cutting emissions by 8.3% each year. It’s our commitment to the planet, our people, and the future.

What does being a carbon neutral organisation mean?
First Intuition is now a certified carbon neutral organisation.

  • First Intuition being carbon neutral means we’ve measured the carbon we create, and balanced it by supporting projects that remove or prevent the same amount elsewhere.
  • We’ve worked with Carbon Neutral Britain, “the UK’s leading carbon offsetting initiative”, to measure and offset our carbon footprint across all operations.
  • We’ve proudly received our certification.
  • Together, First Intuition and Carbon Neutral Britain have chosen projects that not only reduce emissions but also make a tangible difference to communities, creating cleaner energy, alleviating poverty, and supporting the development of emerging economies.

How does carbon offsetting work at First Intuition?

  1. First Intuition’s carbon footprint was calculated: Each year, an external organisation measures our carbon footprint, from travel and energy use to deliveries and refurbishments. Like many companies, some figures are tricky to track, so we use industry standards to help fill the gaps. We share the results in our annual accounts.
  2. We have set targets to reduce our carbon footprint and implemented plans to achieve this: First Intuition is working towards achieving net zero by 2030, with science-based targets to cut emissions by 8.3% per annum (and 2.5% per annum thereafter). Our sustainability team has been looking at ways to achieve this in each office. This is not a quick fix and will take time to negotiate. Beyond our carbon footprint, we’re also tackling other environmental impacts like waste and water use.
  3. First Intuition has invested in The Carbon Effect: Put very simply, where we cannot currently reduce our own carbon emissions, we can instead help someone else to reduce their emissions by the same amount. Our partners Carbon Neutral Britain are responsible for determining the appropriate rates of offset and certifying these.
  4. Next steps: We will repeat our carbon calculation at the end of 2025. This will be adjusted to take account business growth. This is called an intensity ratio. We will then reconsider our carbon reduction plans for 2026.

Why does this matter to First Intuition?

At First Intuition, sustainability is part of who we are. Our goal to become carbon neutral is integral to our decision-making process and will inform future investment decisions. It will help us build trust with our clients and community, lead by example, and contribute to global efforts tackling climate change.

Martin Taylor Chairman at First Intuition“Becoming carbon neutral reflects what First Intuition stands for, making thoughtful choices that benefit not just our business, but our planet and community.

It’s a powerful step forward that aligns with our commitment to doing the right thing, every time.” Martin Taylor, CEO at First Intuition

What’s next for First Intuition?

First Intuition is not finished yet, and we will continue to review every stage of our processes to continue to reduce any negative impact that we have on the planet.  We’re diving deeper into sustainable practices, reviewing supply chains, and engaging with partners who share our vision.

We encourage you to join us on this journey. Whether you’re taking your first steps or already sprinting ahead, we believe every effort counts. Here’s to a greener future, one we’re proud to help build.
