She makes it count, so can you

First Intuition is here to change the picture of what an accountant looks like and who gets to become one.

At a recent careers event, we asked young women what came to mind when they thought about accountancy. Many said they imagined “a man behind a computer.” One student told us, “All the accountants I know are men; it puts me off a little.” Just as powerfully, another shared, “My mum is an accountant, I want a career like hers.” These honest answers highlight something important: representation matters. Seeing women succeed in accountancy helps more young women see that path as possible for themselves.

This page brings together real stories, practical guidance, and myth-busting insights to help you explore what a future in accountancy could look like. You’ll find video testimonials from tutors and professionals who share how they built their careers, the challenges they overcame, and the advice they wish they’d been given earlier. You can also explore articles and blogs explaining what accountants actually do, tackling common misconceptions, and celebrating the history and impact of women in the profession.
