Meet Harry, our December Apprentice of the Quarter 2025!

Congratulations to First Intuition’s December Apprentice of the Quarter 2025, Harry!

Harry always gives his best to his studies and to the portfolio work he has created during his AAT Level 3 apprenticeship.

Hear more about Harry’s apprenticeship journey and the advice he’d share with others following in his footsteps.

What do you think was the biggest factor that led to your success for this award?

I think I’ve had great support from everyone whilst I’ve been on my apprenticeship. From First Intuition to Mersey Care and the SDN team, everyone I’ve contacted has been so supportive and always happy to help me learn and develop.

What made you choose a career in accountancy? Was there anything that triggered your decision?

I have always really enjoyed working with numbers as maths was one of my favourite subjects at school. I also really enjoy learning about businesses and how they work and operate, and so accountancy was a great choice as it merges these really nicely.

What was your preferred approach to studying? Do you have any study tips for other students and apprentices?

My lessons take place in the classroom, and I feel that this is my preferred way of learning, as you are in person and can ask questions about something if you get stuck. For revising, I always complete the checkpoints on FI Learn as well as complete all of the questions in the course notes. I also like to do mock exams on both FI and AAT.

How have you been supported by your company and colleagues throughout your apprenticeship so far? How has this contributed to your success with your qualification?

Everyone at Mersey Care has been so supportive throughout my apprenticeship, especially the team that I work with. They have always gone out of their way to help me learn and understand things better. I think that the support from my colleagues has really helped me succeed, as they have always wanted me to develop and learn new things. I can’t thank them enough for this.

Which qualities would you suggest a new learner look for in a tuition provider to get the best experience from their studies?

I think you should look for a tuition provider that offers great support throughout your studies, and First Intuition does this really well.

How do you feel the apprenticeship route has benefitted you, and what has it added to your study experience and professional development?

I think the apprenticeship route has been amazing, as you can study and gain a qualification whilst also putting these skills into effect in the workplace. I think by doing this, you develop even more as you are constantly practising the new skills you have learnt. I also think it is great to build confidence, as you can learn a new topic/skill and go from knowing very little or nothing at all to knowing a great deal.

Do you have any goals/plans in mind for when you finish your apprenticeship?

After my apprenticeship, I would like to start and complete my AAT Level 4 and then go on to complete my Level 7 qualification and become a chartered accountant. Hopefully, I’ll pass the skills I have learnt onto the new apprentices in the future.

Congratulations again, Harry, for this massive achievement, and thank you for letting us interview you.
