Students with an MBA or masters' in accounting or those who are already members of recognised professional accounting bodies may be able to join CIMA through the CIMA accelerated gateway route. Find out more about eligibility and alternative gateway routes at the CIMA website.
The CIMA gateway assessment is a single three hour examination combining CIMA's three management level papers. The exams take place in May and November each year at the normal CIMA examination centres.
Upon successful completion of the gateway assessment you will be awarded the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting and granted 11 exemptions (at no extra charge) from CIMA's Certificate, Operational and Management level exams, so you can progress directly onto Strategic Level.
You must register as a CIMA student and submit relevant documentation supporting your eligibility for the gateway route by 31 January (for May exams) or 31 July (for November exams).
The exam material should all be familiar to you from your previous studies, but you may wish to follow a course or purchase study materials to help you prepare for the gateway exam.
